Digital Mis-Communication

This series proposes a philosophical question about the lack of social norms associated with digital forms of communication (i.e. texting, e-mail, IM, etc.). These 10 images were generated by inputting a keyword/sentence into the program. These keywords were chosen through experiences I had of particular emotions/feelings in relation to digitally mediated conversations I had with a particular person.

When shown in person, there was a prompt with this work that asked the audience to send in a text message with which image they were looking at 1 through 10 (titles were hidden), and what they thought the image was depicting. More often than not, people did not see what the program used as a keyword to describe the image. This was a literal representation of the way technology creates rifts in communication, or, in other words, creates a digital mis-communication.
